Vital Earth recycles around 97,000 tonnes of green waste per year at its plant at Ashbourne, Derbyshire. Unlike many recycling facilities however, Vital Earth was conceived as a commercial producer of saleable compost and fertiliser products first and as a waste management operator second.

We collect refuse from domestic properties on the same day once a week. Collections happen every day, Monday to Friday, except Christmas Day and Boxing Day in which case collections will take place the following week. Every six months we give each house a roll of 26 refuse sacks, free of charge. Tower blocks and other multi-occupied homes might be provided with large containers instead of refuse sacks. We empty these at least once a week, more frequently if necessary.
