About Servatruc Ltd

Our company has its roots in 1859; the year Charles Darwin shocked the non scientific world with his ‘Origin of Species’, preparation works began for the Suez Canal, and Big Ben first tolled the hours over London.

The fork lift truck company, Servatruc, is today’s personification of this long established Nottingham family owned and managed business. 

We’ve evolved into today’s successful operation by digging new paths, ringing the changes and providing clients with what we believe to be the best fork lift truck sales, maintenance and repair operation in the area.

Working from a small engineering workshop at  its inception in 1960s,  Servatruc quickly gained a reputation for the high quality of its workmanship and its first rate service.  And, as the fork lift side of the business grew, a decision was taken to drop some of the older engineering specialisms and focus the business’s operations on materials’ handling equipment.

Throughout the 1970s, the company concentrated on rebuilds, hire and service.  All makes of fork lift truck were dealt with and a sound financial and commercial base, from which to expand into mainstream fork lift truck distribution, was established.

Nowadays, Servatruc is distributor for many of the 'big names' in lift trucks and an importer of many leading Japanese brands. By the end of 1999 the rental fleet stood at over 450 units.

We are the main East Midlands dealer for Cesab, Samuk, Kelvin and Logitrans.  And with a roll call like this, we can meet the widest range of materials handling requirements.

To this day, we have a highly respected reputation for the quality of our engineering, innovative design and service.

With the introduction of new Health and Safety legislation in the 1990s, many came to us seeking help with equipment to assist them work safely at height.  In reply, scissor lifts and cherry pickers were added to the hire fleet and nowadays we can supply from a fleet access equipment particularly suited to industrial customers.

Fork lift driver training is another issue for many.  To meet customer demand for improved driver standards and to reduce the risks of accidental damage to equipment and stock, a new company, Servatruc Training Services, evolved in 1998    This is fully ITSSAR accredited and provides full training on all forms of materials’ handling equipment. 

The “Thorough Examination” is a statutory requirement on all types of mechanical equipment.   Servatruc and its individual engineers are registered and accredited with CFTS to carry out these “Through Examination”  inspections.

Servatruc is also making a serious commitment to the future, both in training and the environment.   In training, all our employees are encouraged to take advantage of the many training programmes available both from the manufactures who’s products we provide and from local business training providers.  We have an engineering apprentice programme which not only takes in the industry standard training package but also additional subjects to create technicians with well above average skills and abilities.

With a view to the environment, all the new machines that Servatruc provide meet the latest European environmental standards.  We provide a number of electric options for those customers who have traditionally used diesel and LP gas machines.  Electric machines cut emissions and reduce running costs.

Today, Servatruc bears little resemblance to its forebears.  There are fully computerised systems, modern engineering and re-fit workshops, paint booths and parts department.  We do, however, remember our roots and call on our years of valuable experience. Combine this with a skilled and enthusiastic workforce and a dedication to 'make it better' and you have one of  the region’s leading materials handling companies.
