FREE Methods of Advertising Online

Google Email

This is a must to access Google’s online resources. I suggest creating an email which is yourcompanyname@googlemail.com This is always useful when you are abroad or out of the office and can be a secondary email for backup. You can access a google email account from any computer that had internet access.

Google Places

This will get your business listed in google at the top under the classification and location of your choice. This works like a directory in google. It is a good tool to use, but you may be listed with an array of competitors in the same industry.

Google Analytics

This is our favourite tool. Add it to your website for free. It tracks keywords, how users find your website, there location (by territory) and loads more. Very simple to use, but can add a massive difference to the way you run your website.

Google Adwords

There are many vouchers available for Google Adwords. This can range from £10 free up to £150 free. It is not really recommended to pay for sponsored listings (only 5% of users click on these) and it can cost an absolute fortune if you do not get it right. If it works for you during the “free” amount, then try it again, if it does not work, then don’t.

Webmaster Tools

A very easy to use tool to manage your website for google. It can control how often your site is crawled, submit sitemaps, change how users see your site and loads more.

Free Listings

There are 1000s of directories on the website and the more free listings you sign up with, the more likely your business will be found. Just be prepared for a call back from the companies you sign up with as they will try and enhance your listing for you (at a cost). There are only a handful of online directories (including MemberLInks) that can actually do what they say they can do. Ask the company for at least 3 examples of previous work they have done. If in doubt, don’t agree to an enhanced listing.

Back Links

This can be a very tedious job, but will definitely improve your companies profile on search engines. At MemberLinks we have a team of dedicated people (including myself) that spend hours and hours a week creating back links to individual URLs. Try utilising semi-automatic programs which can take hours to set up but will save hours of time in the long run.

There are many free tools that can help you once you have your website up and running, but be careful to download the correct one. Some links can create viruses that will damage your PC or even have a detrimental effect on your website. If you are not sure, then please contact us.
