Greater Manchester Chamber is the largest Chamber of Commerce in the UK with over 5,000 members. We provide first-class business support to companies of all shapes and sizes through a range of sector-based membership services and networking opportunities, specifically tailored to meet the needs of your business.
The Chamber boasts the largest Policy team throughout the entire Chamber network; we research and represent members' views on issues such as transport, environment, skills and the economy across all ten local authority areas. We use our influence with local and central government to lobby on behalf of our members as the voice of the Greater Manchester business community.
Greater Manchester Chamber's Board exists to ensure the Chamber achieves its strategic objectives.
The composition of the Board is as follows:
•The President
•The Vice Presidents and the Immediate Past President
•The President or Chairman of each Local Chamber Council (LCC)
•Six nominated eligible members of the Council
•Not more than 6 co-opted by the Board
•The Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber
•Honorary Officers
The Chamber has a Chairman and a Vice Chairman, elected by the Board for a term of office of three years. The Chamber also has a President elected annually and two Vice Presidents, also elected annually.
Meetings
The Board meets bi-monthly with an annual calendar of dates published. The Board conducts a review of the Chamber's strategic direction twice a year.
The Honorary Officers meet in advance of each Board meeting to consider agenda items, and may meet on an ad-hoc basis between Board meetings to consider matters of remuneration, strategic proposals or to provide advice to the Chairman, President and/or the Executive.
